St Jean pied de port

Having spent most of yesterday on different trains, arrived in St Jean pied de port around 8pm. Definitely early in the pilgrim season as they were as rare as rocking horse shit. Another month and this place will be buzzing. The weather was cool but no snow. Heard on the grape vine, the top of the Pyrenees are closed to pilgrims because of the snow. I hope the situation changes in the next day or so,as I am looking forward to going over the top. Today, rest up, go to get my credentials (pilgrims passport)and get ready for day one. I’m feeling good.

Camino03

About to happen. Watch this space. I’m excited…. Left Launny Monday 25th February and later that night, Etihad airways to Abu Dhabi arriving at 5am.My good mate John Tickell has been silly enough to join me on this epic journey through possible wind ,snow and hopefully sunny 35 plus days. The A380 left Abu Dhabi for Paris 9.15am and arrived 2pm. Seventeen degrees, blue skies, wow magic day. Picked up by Yasmine, who drove us to her home only 15 mins away as we need to come back tomorrow to catch the train to st Jean pied de port. Yasmine is a sensational young woman. She couldn’t do enough for John and I, taking us to different shops and doing all the talking so we could finalise everything for the big walk
