Resting

Resting up. Walk around Santiago to keep the lactic acid away. No back pack. Feels strange. Feet good. Tired body. Have to take care of myself. Especially in the cold wet conditions. John has a cold, but he’s ok. Funny, when you stop, the body starts reacting in strange ways. A couple of days and ready to go again, maybe not. Lots of pilgrims moving on, back to the real world or some keep walking to Finistere. Last time I walked to Finistere. Might take the bus this time

Almost there

The last few days have been a lot harder. From Sarria the camino is more like Bourke street. Many hundreds join every day. One group of 90 school kids from Lisbon joined us,not including all the others. These kids are about 17. Like a school excursion. I’m amazed how many smoke and have a beer with lunch. Keeping up with tradition. The weather is absolute crap now. Freezing and raining. Yesterday a bit of sunshine. Not today, and not looking good for the next few days. We will arrive in Santiago on Friday. Looks like celebrating in the lousy conditions. But that’s Spain. Especially in the spring. Have met new pilgrims from all over the world and will hopefully meet up with pilgrims I have walked with in the last 5 weeks. It will be an emotional time as we cross the finish line. I’m sure John and I will cross together. My body feels good ,as my mental self . My feet are sore but ok. My knees are also ok. Every pilgrim, young and old are happy to finish. But also sorry it is over. Another great journey. Life is a great journey as long as you don’t weaken

Luxury hotel

Last night John and I got a great deal. We stayed in probably the nicest hotel ever for 25 euro each and included a magnificent buffet breakfast. The normal price was 80 euro without breakfast. Negotiating skills, sometimes pays off.

Oh o

Looks like the weather is finally changing. Rained last night. Cold and foggy as we set off an hour earlier as daylight saving has kicked in. Hopefully the fog will burn off into a singlet day
